What is Web Server and SMTP Server ?

Web Server , is used to handle all the Web Activities , It always involve FTP to upload / download the files. We need Web Software ( web Browser ) + HTTP in order access Web Server

SMTP Server , is a mail server . This Server always involve SMTP protocol

Router and Port Filtering

If you put these 2 Servers ( Web & Mail Servers ) in your LAN , you can configure your Router to filter FTP and SMTP port , including blocking this port . But once you block Port 21 ( FTP port ) and Port 25 (SMTP Port ) , this will affect files cannot be transfer ( download/upload) and the mail cannot be sent .

Always keep in mind , we can use ROUTER ( if it is act as Gateway ) to configure the Well Known Port.

But , but , not all the Router has the feature to block the Port Number
